Ancient Egyptian mystery theme
Egypt Book of Mystery is a video slot by PG Soft built entirely around ancient Egyptian civilisation. The pyramid's shadow, hieroglyphs on the walls and the pharaoh's golden crown — all of these come together to make the game's graphics quite rich.
The game has 5 reels and 3 rows. The number of paylines is not fixed; instead it works on a multiway (ways-to-win) system — matching symbols from left to right pay a prize. The symbols include Anubis, the Eye of Horus, a scarab beetle, a golden mask and a mystery book that acts as both the wild and the scatter in the game.
PG Soft is known for its mobile-first design, so the game runs equally smoothly on any Android or iOS device. Players in Bangladesh can enjoy this game at bd999 directly from a browser.
How a spin works
Before starting a spin you need to set your bet size. You can increase or decrease the amount per spin using the slider or the ± buttons at the bottom of the screen. Once the bet is set, pressing the spin button causes all 5 reels to spin together and then stop.
The winning condition is the same symbol landing on consecutive reels from left to right. With 243 ways to win in this game, there is no need to worry about specific paylines — a match on any row pays a prize. The wild symbol (the mystery book) can substitute for any regular symbol to complete a match.
The bonus round starts when at least 3 scatter symbols (the book symbol) land on the reels in the same spin. You are then given 10 free spins, and a special symbol is randomly chosen that expands during the free spins to cover an entire reel. This is the game's most notable feature, as the expanding symbol can bring large prizes on each free spin.
If another 3 scatters land during the free spins, an extra 10 free spins are added and a new expanding symbol is selected. In theory this retrigger can continue without limit.
Which type of player this slot suits
Budget and session length
Egypt Book of Mystery suits players with a medium to higher budget. You can play at lower bets, but it helps to set aside a reasonable session budget to get the full experience of the bonus round.
Volatility in plain terms
The game's volatility is medium-high. That means small wins do not come often — you can spin for a long time without a big prize, but a bonus round can trigger suddenly and pay out a large amount.
How long to play
A slightly longer session works better than a quick 5–10 minutes, so you have a chance of hitting the bonus round. That said, you should decide on a time limit before you start.
Some useful tips before you play
- Use demo mode: Even after creating an account at bd999, spend some time in demo mode to get a feel for the game's rhythm. See for yourself how the bonus round works without using real money.
- Set a session budget in advance: Decide beforehand how much you are willing to spend in one session. Stop when you reach that limit — this is the simplest rule of responsible play.
- Follow your stop-limit: Build the habit of stopping when you reach a set loss or win level. Chasing a bigger win after a win generally does not end well.
- Keep your bet size in proportion: Fewer spins at a high bet gives you less chance of hitting the bonus round than more spins at a lower bet.
It is important to follow responsible gaming guidelines when gambling. Take a moment to read them.
Common misconceptions to avoid
"The slot is due to pay out — I'll get it this time"
Many people think that if a slot has not paid for a long time it becomes "full" and will pay on the next spin. This is completely wrong. Every spin is entirely independent — the result of a previous spin has no effect whatsoever on the next one.
FactThe RNG (Random Number Generator) determines each spin independently. A slot has no such state as "due to pay out".
"If I'm losing I'll increase my bet to recover"
Trying to quickly recover everything by raising your bet after a string of losses is a classic mistake. It only makes losses grow faster.
FactThe smart move after a loss is to stop and wait for the next session rather than chasing it.
"You win more at certain times of day"
The idea that playing at midnight or on a particular day pays out more has no basis. The game's software is time-neutral.
FactPlay at any time — the probability of any outcome is always the same.
"Buying the bonus gives more value"
Some people believe that buying the bonus round is more profitable than regular spins. Buying the bonus only takes you directly to the bonus round; it does not guarantee a win.
FactThe bonus buy feature can exhaust your budget quickly — be careful.
How it differs from other slot styles
Many slots on the site use classic 3-reel or standard 5-reel fixed-payline mechanics. The key difference in Egypt Book of Mystery is its expanding symbol mechanic — in the bonus round a special symbol takes over entire reels, which is different from the cascades or cluster pays found in Megaways slots.
In Megaways slots (such as those from Big Time Gaming) the reel size changes on every spin and thousands of payways can be formed. PG Soft's casual slots like Fortune Tiger or Fortune Ox are known for simple mechanics and lower volatility. Egypt Book of Mystery sits between the two — moderate complexity, but solid bonus potential.
bd999's slots section has games from PG Soft, Pragmatic Play, JILI, Hacksaw and many more developers. You can browse different styles of games all in one place.
Fishing games are a completely different type — instead of spinning, you aim and shoot to catch fish. For that experience you can visit the Fierce Fishing page.
